Softail STD 07Exile Cycles started with a brand new 2007 Softail Standard from their friends at Santa Maria Harley Davidson. Russell has always
liked the Standard as it is “easy on the chrome”! The bike was transformed front to back using bolt-on parts from the new Exile range. Look out for it in the May issue of American Iron, on newstands 3/24/09.
No cutting or welding was involved and the stock sheet-metal was maintained so that the bike would still be recognized as a Harley
Exile Fatbars with integral risers, internal throttle and billet grips with super-stealthy switchgear define the front-end of the machine.
The four ‘buttons’ (which can be seen in the upper and lower image) control right and left turn signals, horn and Hi/Lo. Push two at
the same time and they will operate the starter. All the necessary switch functions in an almost invisible package! Exile Sani-trees
bolt right up with hidden steering stops and they even allow the use of the stock steering lock! An SJP headlamp and Lazer-Star
turn-signals handle the lighting at that end. Front wheel is a 21x3.5 Exile Monster with Exile rotor and caliper completing the set.
The front axle is treated to a set of Exile knurled covers and these are evident throughout the bike appearing also on the rear axle,
swing-arm pivot bolts, motor bolts and oil-pressure switch. These complement the knurled Exile gas-cap skins and oil-bag cap.
kit with Exile cover and a set of Exile Monster Shotgun pipes.

One of the obvious custom features on this bike is the beautiful Exile 3” open belt primary. This particular bike has a jockey shift,
and sports a centrifugal clutch which acts like an automatic when stopping and starting and makes riding with a foot-clutch a breeze!
Exile forward control adapter plates allow a Twin-cam frame to accept evo-era forward controls. In this case Exile forwards with knurled
pegs totally look the part. The Exile bolt-on kickstand assembly cleans things up further by getting rid of the bulky stock item.
The other stock items missing from the left side are the coil and the horn. The Exile coil relocation kit mounts it in front of the rear
splash-guard and the plug-wires are routed up under the seat and through the heads. The fake frame center-post is removed and the
transmission boss is dressed up with the knurled cover that comes with the coil relocation kit. The horn is similarly hidden with an
Exile horn relocation kit.
Exile Sprocket Brake. Their new clamp-on caliper anchor means that this too is a bolt-on conversion.
A 15x6 Exile Monster rear wheel with 200 tire gives a suitably beefy look to the rear. Exile’s tail-light bracket for bobbed fenders
incorporates an LED tail light and turn-signals. Top the whole package off with some custom leatherwork and you have one sweet ride!
The bike even has knurled passenger pegs and a leather pillion pad which install in about a minute!
Exile will be happy to sell you any of these parts individually, or as a discounted ‘make-over’ package that includes what’s needed
to perform this transformation. Alternatively, send your bike to Exile to have them work their magic, or simply order a completed
‘Exiled’ Softail.
The beauty of these machines is that they have all of the Exile-style with all the Harley functionality. They have turn-signals, speedo,
fuel gauge, steering lock - they even tell the time! They carry a stock HD title and warranty and are easy to insure or finance!
Talk about the best of both worlds!
